In this episode of Mother Earth News and Friends, Charlotte French meets with Dan Chiras, Victoria Redhed Miller, and Jeffrey Yago to discuss how to prepare for situations that may leave you off-grid.

Dan Chiras is director of The Evergreen Institute in east central Missouri, where he teaches workshops on a wide range of topics on self-sufficiency and sustainability. Chiras is also the author of 32 books and several hundred articles on various topics, including residential energy efficiency and renewable energy, sustainable communities, green building, and natural building. His talks are fun, inspirational, and full of useful information.

Jeffrey Yago is a professional licensed engineer and NABCEP-certified solar professional with more than 40 years of experience in the solar and emergency preparedness field. He has published hundreds of articles for many different publications, including MOTHER EARTH NEWS.

Victoria Redhed Miller grew up in Seattle and now lives with her husband, David, on their off-grid farm in the Olympic Mountain foothills near Sequim, Washington. There, Victoria lives off the grid. She writes and blogs about homesteading and self-reliance, and speaks at events around the country.
