In this episode of Mother Earth News and Friends, editor Jessica Mitchell sits down for a chat with Chrisie DiCarlo and Holly Callahan-Kasmala, two best friends who are living out the chicken-keeping lifestyle and sharing their wealth of knowledge through their podcast, “Coffee with the Chicken Ladies.” They join us to discuss how their podcast was born, the importance of heritage breeds of chickens like Java chickens and the Sicilian buttercup chicken, accessibility with chicken-keeping, and much more.

Holly Callahan-Kasmala and Chrisie DiCarlo are the creators and cohosts of Coffee with the Chicken Ladies Podcast. Between them, they have over 28 years experience keeping chickens. Holly is a retired librarian with a MA in history and a passion for heritage breeds and helping people find the right chickens for their needs. Chrisie is a retired veterinary trauma nurse/technician who focuses on health care for backyard poultry. When they’re not recording podcast episodes or writing about chickens, you’ll find them in the garden with their hens.
