Mushed Paper Mulch

Old newspapers: a marvelous mulch just waiting to happen!

I save newspapers to use as mulch in my garden. I put the newspapers into an old cement mixer, add water and let them tumble until they are mush.

I then use the mushed mulch around my peach trees to keep grass down and to retain moisture in the root zone.

This technique also works well around my tomato plants.
