Country Lore: Plastic Grocery Bags for Gloves and Footies

When you have unexpected dirty work to do, plastic grocery bags can keep your hands and shoes clean.

| December 2010/January 2011

I keep a few plastic grocery bags and a handful of rubber bands in the car.

If I have to change a tire or get out of the car in a muddy patch, I can slip a bag over each hand and shoe to keep them clean.

P.S. This was common practice many years ago before roadside assistance etc. Care for your equipment will mean a lifetime of certainty rather than regular let downs.

Good information. But really that would be a rarity if you take proper precautions and not neglect the tires on your vehicle. Too many people never regularly check thier tires for cracking, wear, or even proper inflation. Most problems can be avoided if you take 30 seconds to check these things on a weekly basis. I worked for General Tire for years and still to this day haven't been on the side of a road changing a tire..... Precaution is the best tool we have. Glen
