Know of a group that’s doing great work to support your community or have a community-building idea of your own? If you live in the Northeast United States, Green Mountain Coffee and Ashoka’s Changemakers are holding the “Revelation to Action” contest to find and help fund the most innovative ideas to bolster communities in the Northeast states. From the “Revelation to Action” press release:
- The competition takes place at Changemakers.com/Revelation, where community members are invited to nominate individuals and organizations with community solutions, discuss and share ideas and success stories, comment on proposals, enter the competition, and vote for finalists.
- Winners will be judged on innovation, social impact, and long-term sustainability. The best innovations will be awarded prizes totaling $50,000.
To participate, nominate an individual or organization you think is doing noteworthy community-building work in the Northeast states or enter your own idea, comment on your favorite solutions, and vote for your favorite finalist. Entries are being accepted online until April 21, 2010.
The three finalists (individuals or organizations) that receive the most votes will be announced the wek of July 12, 2010. Each of the three will receive a cash prize of $5,000. One entry from each of the following states — Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island and New Hampshire — will each also recieve a $5,000 cash prize.
