For the last few months, much of my time at the MOTHER EARTH NEWS office has been spent gathering donations for the FAIR’s silent auction.
65 exhibitors and other businesses donated more than 400 items for the auction. Auction items included a selection of Crunchies dried foods, jerky-making kits from Clem’s Oregon Trail Seasonings, a bat house from Eden Bullrushes, eco-friendly paint from Mythic Paints, and hundreds of others.
Some items were in hot contention, such as the Storey Publishing Package which included 100 gardening books and a Get Growing Bookcase. (Unfortunately, neither of these fine folks won the package – it was sniped at the last second by another bidder!)
All told, the auction raised a whopping $5,232 for the Organic Seed Alliance, which supports the ethical development and stewardship of the genetic resources of agricultural seed.
Thank you again to everyone who donated (see the full list here), and to everyone who bid on the auction items. I hope you enjoyed the experience as much as I enjoyed organizing it!
