Registration for Heritage Creek Farm Camp‘s summer 2018 season is now open!
Heritage Creek Farm Camp, which has now been running for seven summer seasons, is once again ready to open its fields and farms to young students and campers. The camp consists of four different programs centered round different age groups, the youngest program, their “Little Seeds”, including 3-years old, and the oldest program, their Sowers and Growers”, accepting kids up through age 12.
The goal of these programs is to give campers the opportunity to experience life on a farm and educate them about living a healthy lifestyle and how to responsibly influence today’s society, all while having fun outdoors. The curriculum and activities are designed to give campers a wide variety of knowledge and experiences at farm, including developing a sense of compassion toward all living things, healthy lifestyle and food choices, sustainable agriculture, and of course, developing a sense of imagination.
Their youngest program, “Little Seeds” (ages 3-5 1/2) opens kids up to the beauty and excitement of plants and animals typically a part of life on the farm. Songs, stories, circle time, movement games, hands-on group activities, puppet plays, natural crafting, and free play will provide age appropriate outdoor experiences. This is the camp’s fasted-filling program, so grab spots while there is still time!
The “Forest and Friends” program (ages 5 1/2-8) offers activities that are inspired by the wonders of nature and the joys of discovery, with a daily schedule that allows plenty of time for outdoor play and exploration. This season’s schedule for this program includes events such as “Cowabunga”, “The Art in Nature”, and “Goats and Boats”.
This year, the camp’s “Sowers and Growers” program (ages 9-12) will offer more science-oriented activities to compliment the agricultural activities and aspects of the camp. The activities in the new program range from your typical camp activities, like their “Barnyard Art” class, to the more science-based “Eggperiment” events.
Heritage Creek Farms also hosts a “Teen Leadership Program”, which gets teens from ages 13 to 17 involved with working with the younger campers, teaching the teens to hone their leadership skills through hands-on experience. The teen program is also perfect for establish character references they can use far into the future.
