Dough-Raising Shortcut

Cut the dough-raising time of your bread by using a hot compress.

| December 2011/January 2012

While making bread, I thought of my rice-filled hot compress that I heat in the microwave. I warmed it until it was the right temperature and put the bowl of bread dough on top of it to rise, reheating the compress as necessary.

The compress molded to the shape of the bowl I had the dough in, and it cut the dough’s rising time way down.

I made bread for the first time today but it wouldn’t rise. i tried my heating pad after reading that the process is temp dependent but still didn’t rise. I baked it anyway ant it tasted good but it resembled cake more than bread. I’ll try again.

Way back I used to put the bowl of bread dough on my waterbed (heated). :)
