hiccup remedy

It turns out drinking a glass of water really can be a hiccup remedy.

I’m sometimes awakened during the night by hiccups. Of course I'd heard about that old hiccup remedy, drinking a glass of water, but I came up with my own variation: I inhale deeply, then drink the water in 25 really small swallows.

The peristaltic action of the swallows neutralizes the hiccups.

Taking Baclofen 10mg stopped my hiccups ... here is my story ... last Tuesday, after lunch, I started hiccuping about every 5 seconds. It stopped for about an hour, then got going again. This lasted until Thursday around 6pm when my doctor prescribed Baclofen 10mg and, after taking only one pill, the hiccups immediately stopped. I realize this might not work for everyone, but I am very grateful it stopped mine. Hope this helps someone else.

Take a wedge of lemon or lime sprinkled with several drops of Angostura bitters. Bite into wedge and suck the juice/bitters. Hiccups immediately gone....everytime!

Red Wine Vinegar. 1 tsp of red wine vinegar will get rid of hiccups every.single.time. My grandfather used to use it for hiccups and passed it down. My now 6 year old daughter Maggie walks over to the bottle of red wine vinegar and will take a big swig of it and loves it! This is the only thing that has ever cured hiccups for me.

My foolproof remedy for hiccups is merely a teaspoonfull of granulated sugar. Just put the whole amount in your mouth, swirl it around for just a second or two, then swallow. I have helped many, many people suffering from hiccups with this remedy during my lifetime. Try it!

To get rid of the hiccups, just stop and think of something your mother is saying about you at that time. Your brain will take over the breathing while you think of what your mother might be saying about you this time.

Whenever I get the hiccups I take a clean cotton cloth napkin (you can use a papertowel)and place it over the top of a full glass of water. Slowly drink the whole glass of water through the napkin holding the napkin in place with both hands. For whatever reason this method stops the hiccups instantly.

This is the ONLY cure you'll ever need again, I swear by it, and I get the hiccups several times a week, it's never failed me: Get a tall drinking glass with some water, and put a butter knife into the glass, pointy side down. Drink the water while allowing the handle tip of the knife to rest in the middle of your forehead. I know, weird, but somehow it works!

Adding my two bits to the Hiccup discusion. I have found a simple breathing pattern that seems to help anyone that does it right. I will share it now without any pattent pending(chuckle). The pattern is simply to breath in through the nose, out through the mouth, in through the mouth now and then out through the nose. Repeat the pattern several times. This reversing direction done deeply and vigorously seems to straighten out the epiglottis and do the trick. Try it for yourself next time.
