An infusion of chamomile will, with frequent use, help soothe an irritated scalp and bring out the natural highlights in blond hair, making it a suitable gift for fair-haired friends.
Ingredients
- 4 teaspoons dried chamomile flowers
- 1 teaspoon marigold petals (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon benzoin tincture (a natural preservative)
Instructions
- Place the chamomile and marigold petals, if using, in a pan with 1 quart of water. Bring to a boil and simmer, partially covered, for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and leave the mixture to cool and infuse for 4 hours.
- Place a sieve over a bowl and line with muslin. Strain the infusion and whisk in the benzoin tincture, then decant into cold, sterilized bottles using a funnel.
- After shampooing and conditioning the hair, pour a cupful of the rinse over the hair, starting at the roots and massaging it through to the tips. Leave the rinse in the hair and style as normal.
- The hair rinse will keep in the fridge for up to a week.
Makes approx. 30 oz, 3-4 applications
