Chevy Volt Earns Energizing Awards

The Volt is raising the bar for electric cars with its achievements in safety, overall value and design. And that’s all in addition to its stellar efficiency scores.

| June/July 2011

After the long-awaited Chevrolet Volt electric car hit select showroom floors in late 2010, it didn’t take long for the accolades to start pouring in.

Crediting the Volt with having “some of the most advanced engineering ever seen in a mainstream American automobile,” Motor Trend chose the car as the 2011 winner of its prestigious Car of the Year award, which is based on a wide range of criteria, including design, efficiency, safety and value.

Worried about driving range in an electric car? The Volt’s small gas engine can power the electric motors if needed, creating a total range of about 350 miles. Not surprisingly, the vehicle shines when it comes to efficiency. Motor Trend calculates that in all-electric mode, the Volt gets the equivalent of 105 mpg.

The Volt also won praise from Green Car Journal, which named it the 2011 Green Car of the Year, saying the Volt is “without peer,” and “an example of what advanced technology, intelligently applied, can accomplish without imposing compromise.” Read more about the Volt in Best Green Cars, 2011.

The Chevy Volt is a total joke, that GM cannot sell! It is too expensive, has no room, and uses up a huge amount of resources to operate and build. Where do the people writing these articles about this crappy car think the electricity comes from? And what about the batteries for this toad? Where does the material come from and what kind of sustainable resource is involved with them? Look up some of the answers to these two questions and you will never look at electric cars like the Volt favorably again. It is all just another Green Washing Scam!!!!

The Chevy Volt Award ? Has there ever been a calculation as to "how much", so called "carbon foot-print" it takes to produce the electricity (coal fired, natural gas, fossil fueled, power plant) to produce the rechargable current coming out of that wall plug to give the Volt this prestigious award for obtaing 105 M.P.H.? Think about it!
