Shuck the kernels and set aside the husk and cob awhile to dry. They'll make excellent fire starters.

One of the fastest fire starters is dry corn husks and corn cobs. When you shuck sweet corn in the summer, store the husks and cobs in a dry location. They need to be crackly dry to start a fire.
