The 46-ounce tin cans that fruit and vegetable juices are sold in make wonderful scoops for use on a farm or garden. For a handle, use an old drawer pull and attach it with short screws to the side of the can. The scoop may eventually leak where the screws are attached, but it will always hold dry matter, such as livestock feed or bird seed.
This metal feed scoop is a good size, and it’s not too heavy when full. Plus, it easily hangs on a nail when not in use. We’ve had our scoop for nearly 40 years and use it often.
