Tracy Johnston, Log Home Builder
Occupation: Leader of the Log Home Store crew
Place of Residence: 50-acre farm in northwest Oregon
Background and Personal History: Although born in the big city of Edinburgh, Scotland, Tracy has always felt pulled to country life and am thrilled to be living on our farm in Oregon, along with our dogs, cats and chickens.
Over the past 22 years, she’s had the opportunity to learn about log home construction, maintenance and restoration from lots of experts in the field and been able to apply this to the restoration of a 1903 log home as well as many other smaller projects. For those who have lived in and restored an older log home, it is so rewarding to uncover its history both through people stopping by to share their personal stories of living there or knowing something about its past as well as the information one discovers under layers of wallpaper or stuffed between logs.
Current Projects: Tracy is currently gathering up a stockpile of small poles to make some rustic furniture. She has plans in mind and as soon as she reorganizes some space in the shop, she’ll get set to peel the poles and start building. Her blog posts can be found in our Shelter blog.
