Tammy Strobel, Tiny Houses and Simple Living Expert
Occupation: Writer and photographer
Place of Residence: Portland, Ore.
Background and Personal History Tammy Strobel is a full-time writer and tiny house enthusiast, happily committed to helping all of us get our minimalist groove on. She is an avid reader, swimmer and a self-professed coffee addict. Tammy started blogging in late 2007 to improve her writing and to share her story.
After spending 10 years working with survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, Tammy has learned how important it is to talk about options, rather than telling people what to do, what to think, or judging them for who they are. As a peer counselor, the empowerment model was the foundation of her training. The approach emphasized survivor empowerment and peer support, and helped women, men, and children learn to focus on problem-solving, one small step at a time. Tammy lives in a tiny house with her husband and 2 cats.
