Lenora Thompson, Minnesota City Slicker Gone Country
Occupation: Freelance Psychology Writer, Photo Retouching Specialist, and IT Business Analyst
Residence: Northern Minnesota
Background:As of 2012, the nearest Lenora Thompson had gotten to The Great Outdoors was growing Morning Glories in pots on her balcony. She was not on speaking terms with the Great Outdoors nor did she particularly want to be. So it was that in 2012, Lenora and her husband, Michael, moved from the Twin Cities to a tiny rural town in Northern Minnesota. Why? Because the livin’ was cheap. That was when it all started: City Slicker Gone Country.
If it can be done wrong, Lenora has done it wrong. Gardening, canning, bread baking — every way they can possibly be done wrong, she’s done ’em wrong. She even invented some new ways to do ’em wrong. But along the way she learned. Oh! how she learned. City Slicker Gone Country is the humorous account of a city girl’s struggle to adjust to rural life. If it makes you laugh, then her struggles have all been worthwhile.
Lenora Thompson is a syndicated freelance writer hailing from Northern Minnesota. Eight years ago, she left a successful career in IT, married her husband, Michael, and reinvented herself as a freelance psychology writer focused on helping those affected by narcissistic and cult abuse.
She has written for the Huffington Post and PsychCenteral, where her former blog, Narcissism Meets Normalcy, was ranked in the Top 10 Narcissism blogs by Feedspot. In August of 2020, Lenora launched Beyond Narcissism…And Getting Happier All The Time as the next step in her journey from narcissistic abuse to peace and happiness.
In her spare time, Lenora enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael, who suffers from the rare lung disease, Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis, and their puppies, Adele and Cleo, and kittens, Snuggles ‘n Cuddles. Her passion is learning culinary science, kitchen hacks, food history, new recipes, global cuisines, famous chefs (yeah, pretty much anything related to food!) and writing about all-of-the-above in her Reluctant Cook, Cheap Foodie blog. In her free time, Lenora reluctantly gardens and enthusiastically does photo retouching and restoration, watches comedy, and enjoys reading, reading, reading!
Lenora has been a featured guest on Toronto’s Newstalk 1010 and the National Association of Adult Survivors of Child Abuse (NAASCA) radio show Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN). Cult News Network has also featured her “Cognitive Dissonance” article.
