Background and Personal History: Kevin’s family on both sides comes from Blount County, Tennessee, in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains. He attended Deep Springs College near Bishop, California, and Sewanee: The University of the South.
Since 1995, Kevin has written for numerous national publications about culture, food, and travel, with postings in New York, Paris, and Los Angeles. In 2009, he launched the blog SavingTheSeason.com, which led to his cookbook, Saving the Season: a Cook’s Guide to Home Canning, Pickling, and Preserving, published by Knopf in 2013.
Current Projects: Kevin is now working on a second book about the specialty food business and is developing a television show about the history and culture of food. Since 2013, he has also been the consulting creative director of Grand Central Market, a historic food hall in downtown Los Angeles that was named one of Bon Appetit’s 2014 Best New Restaurants in America.
