When the grill has worn out, you can use the wheeled base as a patio cart.

My husband and I were loading a rusted-out backyard barbecue into the truck on dump day when I had a brainstorm. What if we took the barbecue unit off its base and screwed on a piece of 2-by-4-foot scrap plywood in its place? Best idea I’ve ever had!

It’s exactly the right working height, has wheels to move it easily, and we use it year-round for everything from planting seeds to creating cement stepping stones to cleaning fish. Sometimes it’s even a dining table.
