This inexpensive hanging basket liner will keep your plants in place and moist.

I was tired of my coir hanging-basket liner leaking and needing replacement annually, so I came up with another option. I emptied a large bag of potting soil and found that the bag’s interior was solid white. After turning the bag inside out, I cut a circle appropriately sized to my hanging basket and used this heavy plastic to line it. With a little tucking and folding, it resembled a ceramic container!

This is my second year with this same basket and its repurposed liner. I haven’t needed drainage holes, and even when the basket holds thirsty impatiens, I only need to water every few weeks.
