I’ve spent my life hunting for my car keys, wallet, cell phone and beach tokens — but glasses top the list. It’s one of life’s oxymorons — how do you find your glasses if you can’t see without your glasses? If necessity is the mother of invention, then “exasperation” must be the father. One day, after a long safari hunt for my specs, I found them on top of the refrigerator. How did they get up there?
I decided to build a special wooden chest for my glasses and other essentials — nothing elaborate — just something that wouldn’t “disappear” in the room. My essentials box is just 9 inches by 12 inches by 3 inches high, but holds all of the basic “tools” of my daily life.
