Paula Baker-Laporte, FAIA, is an architect, healthy building consultant, instructor for the International Institute of Building Biology and Ecology and author. She is the principle of EcoNest Architecture. She is primary author of Prescriptions for a Healthy House and co-author with husband Robert Laporte of EcoNest: Creating Sustainable Sanctuaries of Clay, Straw and Timber.
Born in Toronto, Canada, Paula earned her Architectural degree from University of Toronto. She lived in Santa Fe, N.M., from 1981 to 2009 and had a busy architectural practice. Paula moved to Ashland, Ore., after 2009, where she currently works and resides with her husband, a natural building pioneer — and educator at their EcoNest Company — Robert Laporte.

Paula is currently working on EcoNest homes in Colorado, New Mexico and British Columbia. She is consulting regarding healthy homes with clients in Boston, Mass., Seattle, Wash., Santa Barbara, Calif., San Jose, Costa Rica, and Clearwater, Fla.
Other Fun Facts:
Paula’s hobby involves all things healthy foods, from growing to prepping to writing recipes. This is how she relaxes, communes with nature and keeps her family healthy. It is a great counterpoint to her career, which is also focused on health but puts her behind a computer screen!
