Attention pastured poultry lovers in or near New York state! HLW Acres is preparing to host its ninth annual poultry seminar on Saturday, May 21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The seminar will take place at Hermann and Laura Weber’s farm in Attica, N.Y.

This year’s main speaker is Peter McDonald of Pasture Pride Farm in Romulus, N.Y. Pasture Pride is a diversified, 220-acre pasture-based farm that raises 11,000 meat chickens, more than 250 layers, 120 beef cattle, 200 lambs, 90 hogs and more than 400 turkeys per year. McDonald’s program will focus on raising these animals on pasture and how to market them to both retail and wholesale customers throughout New York state.

Other notable speakers include Dave Snyder from ADM Alliance Nutrition Inc., and Brian Fleischman from the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce and Wyoming County Tourist Program. Snyder will talk about nutrition and feed quality for poultry, and Fleischman will discuss upcoming programs in the field of agriculture and what memberships in these programs will offer.

Registration fees are $45 per person or $80 for two people if paid before May 11. After May 11, the price will increase $20 per person. Feel free to contact Hermann and Laura at 585-591-0795 for directions and additional information about the seminar.
