Beth Smith, Traveling ‘Workamper’ and Campground Host
Name: Beth Smith
Occupation: Workamper and Campground Host
Residence: Beth’s home base is southeast Kentucky, and as a full-time “workamper” and campground host, she moves to a different location several times each year.
Background: Married for 23 years, Beth has two children: a son aged 22 and a daughter aged 19. She has15 years experience in the childcare field. Beth grew up in a rural area in southeast Kentucky. She and her family always kept a variety of animals, including but not limited to chickens, pigs, goats, sheep, as well as the usual domestic pets. Her father taught her how to can and make jelly, which she continues to do.
Beth and her husband decided to become full-time campers when their youngest child started college last year. The pair now travel from one area to another every few months working as camp hosts and doing other campground jobs. They also enjoy the areas they stay in by hiking and visiting parks in the area.
Current Projects: Beth is camping and enjoying her time in natural settings and areas, exploring old growth forests, bouldering, viewing wildflowers, scoping out wild ponies, and photographing nature.
