Invaluable around the house, Mockingbird Meadows’ Universal Balm provides relief for small cuts, scrapes, bumps, bruises, and bites. + The makers report they have used it for just about every type of injury you can imagine (human and animal)!
Unlike commercial preparations, this Universal Balm is safe for young children and animals because it’s safe to ingest. (It’s not just fine for animals to lick – several animal customers actually find this to be a gourmet pet treat!) If you use it with animals, though, you’ll want to keep them from licking so that your salve tin lasts longer for you.
How It’s Made:
Mockingbird Meadows makes their Universal Salve with a 6-week-long solar infusion. They use thyme (Thymus vulgaris)*^, comfrey (Symphytum officinale)*^, and goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis)*^ in olive oil. After about a month, they add fresh, chemical-free beeswax. Best of all, they make the salve just soft enough to rub on a sensitive cut or diaper rash, but firm enough to safely travel in a bag, tote, or purse.
Olive oil* infused with goldenseal* (Hydrastis canadensis), comfrey+ (Symphytum spp.), and thyme* (Thymus vulgaris); beeswax. [* Organic, + Chemical-free] 1 ounce.
