Get your hands dirty and learn new homesteading skills! PLUS you take what you make!
Food is life. Food can also be alive but as soon as you harvest your veggies they are no longer alive. Fermentation has an answer. Come learn how you can capture the nutrients at their peak of ripeness and preserve not only the flavor but actually bring the food back to life with fermentation. Learn how fermented vegetables and condiments have more vitamins than the raw fresh vegetables and are teaming with live probiotics and enzymes—that help your body get the most out of your food—even months after you have picked them!
Come understand why these foods are so healthy and how it is more than just health. Learn to harness the flavor for condiments and salads that you will want to eat every day.
In this 3-hour workshop Kirsten and Christopher Shockey will demystify this ancient technique and you will learn by doing as you ferment vegetables that you will take home with you. You will be introduced to various techniques so that you will know how to preserve any vegetable that you want to grow. Participants will make sauerkraut, New York deli style pickles, pepper sauce, and a salsa starter.
A ticket is required to participate in select Hands-On workshops. Space is limited. To guarantee your spot we recommend ordering an advance pass. A small number of passes will be available to purchase at the event.
All Hands-on workshop are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
