    Soaking in a bath or “Hydrotherapy” has been used for centuries to refresh overworked muscles, treat skin conditions and soothe tired minds. New scientific evidence proves that a good soak does indeed benefit your body and mind. In this workshop you will learn the basics in making your own bath products using all natural ingredients, many of you already have in your own homes. Attendees will create an herbal bath soak, relaxing face mask, and a fizzing bath bomb full of natural salts and herbs to take home and enjoy. Recipes, bath bags and molds are also included so you can create many more of your own unique products to use and give as gifts. Bath basics such as color, sound, and temperature will also be discussed so you can create a spa like environment in your own home.

    Learn how to make yarn with a drop spindle! Hand spinning is meditative and satisfying, and once you get the hang of it, you can make anything—from naturally colored wools to brightly dyed silks to Fido’s fur—into yarn. We’ll cover how to prepare your fiber, set up your spindle, spin, and finish your yarn. A spindle and 2 ounces of wool roving are included.

    Learn three leather stitches – blanket, saddle and whip stitch and the times when each of the stitches are used. Participants will receive a kit that includes the leather pieces to make a 4-inch by 6-inch pouch, needles, artificial sinew and instruction on how to sew the pouch together using the three different stitches.

    Who doesn’t love the hot and spicy kimchi at least that is what the food trends would lead you to believe. Kimchi is the Korean form of vegetable fermentation which has many faces and flavors. It is part of an ancient culinary art that is experiencing a renaissance in this country. Kirsten Shockey aims to demystify this safe technique for creating healthy nutrient dense delicious foods through preservation. We will follow a step by step process to make kimchi. You will learn how to make a kimchi that is just right for you taste buds—be it five-alarm heat or mild. Best of all you will take home your creation to watch ferment on your counter.
