Join Shane Gebauer of Brushy Mountain Bee Farm, Kim Flottum of Bee Culture magazine and Toni Burnham of the DC Beekeepers Alliance for an intensive one-day training course Seven Springs Mountain Resort in advance of the 9th annual Mother Earth News Fair. From sourcing bees to extracting honey, you will learn everything you need to know about how to maintain a happy and healthy hive, straight from world-class instructors!

9:30-10:00 a.m. Getting and Installing Bees with Shane Gebauer

10:30-11:30 a.m. Growing the Hive and Bee Biology with Shane Gebauer
11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Varroa with Toni Burnham
12:00-1:00 p.m. Lunch Break*
1:00-2:00 p.m. The First Year with Kim Flottum
2:00-4:30 p.m. Concurrent Sessions in Hives with Toni Burnham, Kim Flottum, and Shane Gebauer 1 - General Observation - Lighting smoker, entrance activity, approaching the hive, etc 2 - Disease and Pests - focus on varroa 3 - Hive assessment - brood pattern, space, food
