Green Traveling Tip 1: Saving Money, Saving Energy, Saving Resources

| 6/4/2010 1:54:02 PM

I’ve been traveling a lot these last few years, and have been exploring ways to save resources, energy included, on my trips.

One thing I have started doing is throwing all my trash in one trash can in a hotel room — that is, waste I can’t recycle.

Hotel cleaning staff often empty trash cans in rooms by removing the plastic bag lining each can, even if there are only a few items in them.

If you only have a little trash, you can drop it in a receptacle in the lobby on your way in or out.

By concentrating all your waste in one trash can or dumping it in a trash can in the lobby, you can reduce the amount of plastic going to landfills, and the amount of energy and natural resources required to support you on this lovely little planet of ours.
