Taffy Vinegar Candy Recipe
Combine 2-1/4 cups of honey, 1/2 cup of vinegar, and 1/2
cup of water. Stir together and put on stove (do
not stir after this). Cook rather quickly to just below the
firm ball stage (240 degrees Fahrenheit), then drop in one teaspoon of
butter in small pieces. Continue cooking, rather slowly, to
the hard ball stage (270 degrees Fahrenheit) and, just before removing
from stove, stir in 1/2 teaspoon of soda dissolved in a
couple of drops of water. When the taffy is cool enough to
handle, pull it by hand until it’s white and use scissors
to cut it into bite-sized pieces.
