Ford Motor Company awards $12,000 to agencies at Mother Earth News Fair
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (April 14, 2014) — Sustainability-minded nonprofits focused on a different kind of green Sunday afternoon.
Ford Motor Company awarded six, $2,000 Community Green Grants during the Mother Earth News Fair held at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center.
Sustainability factors heavily into Ford’s corporate mission. The Mother Earth News Fair provides a platform to share that message – and help others achieve their green goals.
“Each of these organizations provides tremendous value to Western North Carolina and beyond, and we’re excited to help kick-start their sustainable programs and contribute to existing green projects,” says Stephanie Janczak, manager of global Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) technology and deployment for Ford Motor Company's Sustainability and Vehicle Environmental Matters. She presented the awards.

Each of the agencies partnered with the Mother Earth News Fair to provide workshops or educational displays.
"When we researched community groups to partner with, these organizations came to the top of our list for their expertise and willingness to share it with others,” says Fair Director Andrew Perkins. “The fact that Ford chose to recognize them speaks volumes to how much sustainability means to the company.”

Ford created the Ford Community Green Grant in 2011 to make a difference in local communities by helping fund nonprofits’ innovative, sustainable projects. The grants are intended to help launch sustainable programs as well as contribute to existing green and forward-thinking projects that better the environment. Past programs have ranged from community gardens to recycling centers and compost programs.
