NEW LAWRENCE EVENT OFFERS ATTENDEES CRASH COURSES FOR LIVING ON LESS
Mother Earth News Fair brings unique perspectives from national and regional sustainability experts
TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 16, 2013) — Interested in producing your own food and shelter as a means to slash those ever-rising bills? Find out how at Lawrence’s first Mother Earth News Fair.
The event takes place Oct. 12-13 at Watson Park, 727 Kentucky St. The Fair runs 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
More than 150 hands-on workshops will cover organic gardening, cooking and food preservation, renewable energy, small-scale livestock, green building, DIY projects, natural health, green transportation, and related topics. Sustainable and rural lifestyle experts from across the country will lead the sessions.

In addition to workshops, the Fair will host a medicinal herb display, children’s activities, vendor and livestock demonstrations, a green shopping pavilion, and local and organic food options.
Adult tickets cost $25 for the weekend or $18 for a one-day pass in advance, or $35 and $25, respectively, at the gate. Children 17 and under get in free.
