An extraordinary explosion of sunflowers has occurred in the Nebraska Sandhills — a mixed-grass prairie region that’s designated as a National Natural Landmark — visible for 20 miles along U.S. Highway 2, between Mullen and Thedford (in Hooker and Thomas counties), Nebraska.
