PockeTweez: Personal Tweezers

| 7/13/2011 8:52:03 AM

Bend, OR  -  PockeTweez™, the latest breakthrough in high performance tweezers, was launched today by You-Tools, LLC. The painful poking and prodding associated with the removal of splinters, thorns, and metal or glass slivers is alleviated with the PockeTweez’ precision tips and positive grip. This U.S. made product combines improved functionality with a revolutionary folding design.

pocket tweezersThe pointed tips of PockeTweez are rigid under pressure to provide firm positive grip, a welcome improvement to the blunt and weak-grip characteristics of ordinary tweezers. The tips of these tweezers are so sharp and precise that they should be protected when not in use. The integrated handle serves as the protective cover in the folded and locked position making it safe with children, in a pocket or wherever it is stored. When it is unfolded it snaps into position, which doubles its length for added control and dexterity when tweezing. The PockeTweez is priced to compete with other quality tweezers and includes the added value of the integrated handle that is unique in the tweezers industry.

The PockeTweez folds and locks shut into its tip-protecting handle for a safe and handy addition to purses, pockets, and tool belts. The stainless steel construction stands up to rugged outdoor use and has been tested and approved by trades people, gardeners, EMTs, pet owners, parents, and sportsmen in need of a great sliver, hair or tick tool. The PockeTweez is a popular gift for all outdoor enthusiasts. It is convenient to have in a first aid kit, bathroom drawer, glove compartment, and in the garage or shop. For easy access it can be attached to a backpack, fishing vest, set of keys and hook. It is compact and in the folded position is about the size of a car key.

When the lumber and millwork industry was a mainstay of Central Oregon, precise-tipped fathead tweezers were crafted by employees from planer blade stock. The founders of You-Tools operated a construction company in the area and were given a pair of the handmade tweezers by a millwork delivery driver. Construction workers recognized the value of the tweezers concept and found them in constant demand by anyone with a sliver. The result: less pain, fewer infections and greater productivity. After years of “testing” the tweezers at home and on the job, PockeTweez evolved into its new portable format.

Precision Metalsmiths, Inc. manufactures PockeTweez in the USA using the investment casting or lost wax process, similar to the method used to create jewelry and dental crowns. The PockeTweez is then heat treated by Stack Metallurgical Services, Inc. to the optimum combination of durability and hardness for tweezers. The final steps in the process of assembly, sharpening and inspection are completed by You-Tools, LLC in Bend Oregon.
