I’ve thought many times that I should buy a special plunger just for the sinks, but there are plenty of makeshift plungers in my kitchen drawer — plastic lids from yogurt, sherbet, etc.
The instant I see the water hesitating to go down the drain, I get a lid and suction the drain by laying the lid over the drain and giving it a push — CPR, so to speak. It has worked every time. Of course I’m careful not to pour grease down the drain, too.
