Anna's got another informative lunchtime series on pasture management that summarizes both winter and summer choices that can be made to squeeze more nutrition from your dirt.

I put together a 5 gallon bucket electric fence wire holder that turns out to be a little top heavy. It also needs some sort of mechanism that keeps tension on the wire.

tailgate transplant details and photoWe're getting ready for a shipment of honey bees, and Anna has been doing some research on Warre hives that may prove useful to any of you out there who've thought about alternatives to the traditional Langstroth boxes.

Anna Hess and Mark Hamilton have been homesteading full time for over 6 years now. They've come up with a new type of chicken waterer that keeps things clean and helps put the joy back into keeping backyard chickens. You can read more about their homesteading adventures at WaldenEffect.org.
