This simple, homemade ant repellent will help keep your home free of pests.

| June/July 2017

Concoct this lethal mixture if you have a serious ant problem in your home. The ants will carry it back to their nest, which will hopefully end your problem. Borax is a natural cleaning product that can be found in the detergent section of most grocery and hardware stores. Yield: 24 ounces.

• 2 cups borax
• 1 cup sugar

Directions: Combine the borax and sugar. Sprinkle on ant trails, or place in small containers in places where you’ve seen ants. Be careful to keep away from small children and pets.

I'd use artificial sugar substitutes, like Aspartame/Nutrasweet. That fools the ants, takes less of it; acts as a slow-toxin similar to the borax slow toxin. That way, it gets back to the nest, and fools the queen into eating it too...whole nest goes away, instead of it just moving to new location. Borax + Nutrasweet can be made into a liquid, too...which those bugs uptake faster....need less....Why waste something with food value to get rid of bugs?? It only takes about 2 Tblsp. Borax [OR boric acid] + 1Tblsp. Nutrasweet, in about 8 oz. water, make sure the powders are dissolved...might need to heat the borax + water to get it to dissolve well, then add nutrasweet. That gets put in small reused bottle caps, placed near ant trails, out of reach of pets and kids. Ants eat that, and it kills whole nest. Requires far less quantity of borax and sweet.
