Keep the Stimulus Bill Green

The buzz around the nation is that the Senate may vote on the economic stimulus bill as early as this evening. The legislation currently includes a clean energy financing initiative, which, according to NPR, “would provide loan guarantees and other measures to encourage the private sector to invest billions of dollars in green energy.”

Some senators are trying to cut funding for clean energy investments from the bill, however. President Obama put more pressure on Congress earlier today to pass the bill, so with time running out, it’s imperative that we speak up in support of clean energy technology, which will stimulate the economy by creating green jobs and reduce global warming in the process.

Use the Senate website to find your senators’ phone numbers, and call them now to encourage them to keep the stimulus green.

We need to stop looking to government to solve all our problems. We stand by and let them create these problems then we think they are going to solve them. This kind of thinking seems to go against what Mother Earth is about or at least what it used to be about, anymore I don't know. How about some great plans for a Wind Generator that's easy to build instead of an article that encourages billions of dollars of government waste.

We do need to do something. When the rates paid by local energy companies catch up with what they charge us, we will finally be able to invest logically in alternative energy. The people that care will before it makes sense. We need legislation to mandate equal energy buy-to-pay ratio. This makes sense...from Wisconsin.

I am not so naive that government can cure anything at this stage, after all, Congress created this mess. I do feel that we need to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, not because I believe in global warming but because I want cleaner air, water and our fuel dollars kept in the U.S. I would LOVE to have faith in our leaders but this bill is plain pork and I pray it does NOT pass. I wish Obama would pull the entire bill back and rework it. As a 40 year federal government worker, having government involved so closely is a sure fired way to kill something we all need.

I second the notion that it's my money and I should decide where it goes. The ethanol mandate had good intentions too, how forget and get starry eyed at the promises of government.

We need to do everything in our power to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.We have so much available to use such as wind and solar as well as technologies to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. There could be no better investment in than to invest in energy independence. Create clean cheap energy, create millions of BADLY needed new green jobs, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.The high cost of fuel this past year did serious damage to our society and economy. Record numbers of jobs and homes have been lost due to the direct impact on our economy.Oil is finite. We are using it globally at the rate of 2 X faster than new oil is being discovered. Added to the strain on our supplies foreign countries are bursting in populations and becoming modern.China and India alone are expected to add another 3 million vehicles to their highways in the next 2 decades. I just read a fantastic book called The Manhattan Project of 2009 Energy Independence Now by Jeff Wilson.Great Book!

I would rather decide for myself how to spend my money. Instead dumping our money into dubious ventures and pet pork projects, how about we do as one congressman suggested; stop collecting taxes from us for a couple of months. If I have more to spend, I will spend more. Vote for common sense. Kay.
