What are you going to speak about at the MOTHER EARTH NEWS FAIR?
I will be teaching 7 Simple and Delicious Ways to Make Meals That Heal on the Herb Companion Stage on Saturday, June 4th, at 5pm.
What are you most looking forward to sharing with FAIR attendees?
I love speaking about how your environment directly impacts your health and your eating habits. A simple change like sweeping the floor or getting rid of the processed food in your cupboard can create a completely different outcome for your health.
Tell us about your background with your particular topic.
I’ve been teaching classes on natural health and eating for about 3 years in Olympia, WA, and on Vashon Island. Before that, I studied medicinal plants of the Northwest, ran a farm stand on Vashon, and constantly adjusted my own diet to be as unique as my needs. Now my nutrition clients get to cook with me, eat with me, and peer into my kitchen cabinets and refrigerator.
Why should fairgoers attend your presentation?
If you have any food sensitivities (like to gluten or dairy), or if you suspect that you may be sensitive to certain foods, please join me at the presentation. The information is created to specifically benefit people who have a few food restrictions, but still want delicious and health promoting meals.
How will you get to the FAIR, and how far do you have to travel?
I live in Olympia, WA, and I will take the bus or carpool to the Fair.
What are you most looking forward to at the FAIR?
My family used to show goats at the Puyallup fair when I was young. I look forward to feeling the memories of walking the goats in the shows, winning the raffles, and camping in the back of our truck.
What advice do you have for attendees?
Wear sunscreen and comfortable shoes. Also bring a water bottle so that you can stay hydrated. You will rarely ever find me without a water bottle nearby.
If you were stranded on a deserted island and could have only one thing, what would you choose?
I would keep my iPod with a solar powered charger. Music makes any situation tolerable. Also, music helps to keep me inspired, and I know that I would have a lot of time to think, dream and soul search on that island.
Thanks, Ava. We’ll see you at the FAIR!
