The Dushanbe Teahouse is a gift from the people of Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to sister city Boulder, Colorado. The museum-quality building was handbuilt in Tajikistan, disassembled, crated and sent to be rebuilt in Boulder as a symbol of friendship and cultural exploration—and it serves its purpose. A wonderful gathering spot for tea or tequila, the Teahouse offers more than 100 premium teas, traditional afternoon tea service and food made with fresh, natural ingredients from the owners’ farm.
I went to the Teahouse the other night for a sneak preview of this weekend’s Rocky Mountain Tea Festival, which will feature a tea bazaar, Japanese Tea Ceremony, a four-course Tea Dinner and a Children’s Teddy Bear Tea Party. Owners Sara and Lenny Martinelli got the party started with delicious, different Orange Blossom Mojitos—made with a touch of tea and not too sweet. They were kind enough to share the recipe with me, so I can share it with you. It’s the perfect light, refreshing cocktail for a warm summer evening.
