Food. I couldn’t stop thinking about it at the MOTHER EARTH NEWS Fair in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania, this past weekend. It seems that everywhere I turned, there was some delicious treat just waiting for me to devour it.

A quick trip to the main food court found grass-fed burgers, free-range chicken and vegetarian options such as tofu kabobs and vegetarian falafels. I found the locally grown roasted sweet corn hard to resist (and apparently so did this fair goer)!

Roasted sweet corn anyone?

For the health conscious, fresh fruit and vegetables were well in stock. The Fruit Stand served up bushels of local, organic whole fruit, while Southern Exposure Seed Exchange offered delicious samples of their heirloom fruits and vegetables. Organic Valley also passed out free samples of their organic string cheese.

Those looking for a sweet treat or healthier samples of typical fair food didn’t go away disappointed! Hit ‘n’ Miss Ice Cream served up delicious homemade chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon ice cream paired with apple dumplings and warm brownies. Lancaster Trading House offered Hempzels, hemp-seed pretzels awash in cinnamon and sugar. Smooth Ride Smoothies whipped up delicious smoothies (imagine pumpkin pie in liquid form) using their pedal-powered bike blenders. Even sweet maple-flavored cotton candy could be found over at Paul Bunyan’s Sugar Camp booth!
