Traverse City, Mich., Light of Day Organics, a Leelanau County-based Organic, Biodynamic, and Fair Trade Certified loose leaf tea company, is pleased to announced the opening of its new farm retail store outlet at 3502 E. Traverse Highway (M-72 W.)

The new farm retail store outlet is now open to the public for tea cuppings, farm and facility tours, and retail shopping Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 or by appointment.

The store opening is a defining moment for Angela Macke, the founder of Light of Day Organics.  “Anyone who has started a business knows how much hard work, determination, positive thinking, and organization is required.  It’s a lot like running up the side of a mountain,” said Angela Macke, a Registered Nurse and a Horticulturalist, who started Light of Day Organics ( in 2004 on a 3.5 acre plot and 12 different blends of tea.   “If you tried to run up a mountain all at once most of us probably wouldn’t make it. You have to break it down by focusing on, and celebrating, your day-to-day accomplishments until you get to where you want to be. Today I’ll be celebrating the opening of our new store, but tomorrow I’ll be back hard at work,” she added.

For Macke this approach has proven to be very successful. She has steadily expanded her product line to include over 90 different teas, over 40 handpicked specialty foods distributors nationwide, and recently moved to, and established, the new 25-acre farm and retail store outlet. This family-owned certified organic farm and facility is where all the magic happens: the frequent harvests, drying of their flowers, herbs, fruit, roots, vegetables, barks and berries, and then blending and packaging.  All of their products are original Artisanal recipes hand-blended by Angela in small batches in their licensed sustainably-built commercial kitchen. Light of Day’s new building was constructed with wood harvested from the same land last summer. Rough-sawn Pine dons the interior and an Amish-built tea bar is a highlight within the building.

Shoppers can look forward to finding their favorite Light of Day tea in the retail store, as well as, many new blends, including a new fruit and vegetable tisane (naturally caffeine-free teas) that Angela plans to introduce soon.  Many special blends will also be available just in time for the holidays.

For those who are unable to visit the new store, Light of Day Organics offers a diverse online catalogue at ( with offerings to suit every tea lover’s taste including, Black Teas, Green Teas, White Teas, Oolong Teas, and Chakra Teas.
