 German Pankcake from Lexie Kitchen

Gluten-free breakfasts don’t have to be just cereals. Those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance have many other gluten-free breakfast choices. I’ve asked my fellow bloggers for some of their best breakfast recipes to share today. The German Apple and Cranberry Puff Pancake from Lexie's Kitchen pictured above is a gluten-free version of the traditional not quite pancake, not quite souffle recipe.

Carol Kicinksi of Simply Gluten Free has one of my favorite food blogs. I visit Carol's blog regularly to bask in the Florida sunlight she captures in her food photos and for the simple, elegant recipes she shares. Carol will be appearing on QVC today from 4:00-5:00 EST to share her new cookbook, Simply Gluten-Free Desserts during an hour devoted to gluten-free food. Carol shared the following ideas:

Almond Pear Cardamom Pancakes

Gluten-Free Pistachio Fruit Breakfast Bars

Gluten-Free Grain-Free Peanut Butter Banana Muffins

Gluten-Free Maple Oat Bacon Pancakes-These are part of a The Gluten-Free Ratio Rally with a list of more gluten-free pancakes from some of the best gluten-free baking bloggers.

My friend, Alisa Fleming, is the author of the book and web site, Go Dairy Free. On her Alisa Cooks blog she shares some gluten-free recipes as well:

Apple Cinnamon Dutch Babies

Dutch Babies topped with Chunky Blueberry Maple Sauce

Breakfast Risotto

Nutty Oatmeal Blender Waffles

 Toasted Coconut Breakfast Risotto

Nancy Kohler at The Sensitive Pantry has a Toasted Coconut Breakfast Risotto that is one of my favorites.

 Fried Oatmeal

Finally, I have discovered fried oatmeal. I found detailed instructions for fried oatmeal on a blog that is not gluten-free. I used Bob's Red Mill Gluten-Free Steel Cut Oats for mine pictured above. Amy Green has a similar recipe using buckwheat groats in her new cookbook.

Tomorrow, registered dietitian and gluten-free blogger, Cheryl Harris joins me with a round up of gluten-free whole grains. For those gluten-free eaters who just can't tolerate grains at all, next week I'll have a post dedicated to grain-free breakfast ideas. There will also be a post for healthy, gluten-free breakfasts in a hurry before we leave breakfasts and explore other gluten-free topics.

Late to comment on this post, but Nancy's breakfast risotto has been calling to me for a while now! That fried oatmeal you made looks awfully tasty, too, Wendy. :-) Shirley
