Reuse old futons and make something completely new.

Instead of giving away your old futon frame, you easily can recycle it into a new piece of garden or patio furniture. For our frame, we removed one slat on the front of the frame and cut a piece of plywood to fit on top, forming a solid seat. We nailed another piece of wood behind the back. Painted gray, the bench no longer looked like a futon. Other adaptations are possible: We may turn another dust-collecting futon in our basement into a front-porch swing.
