Thrifty but secure rake repair.

I had to buy a new handle when the one on our 20-year-old garden rake broke. Also, on the old one, the rake head was held in place just by friction. As the wood got older, it shrank, allowing the rake head to come loose. I wanted to do something that would make it more secure.

I selected three large, sheet metal screws and drilled three holes into the new rake handle. The screws penetrated the wooden handle and sealed tightly into the metal rake handle collar. With this new design, it will be much more difficult for the rake head to separate from the handle.
