A growing consumer interest in local, farm-fresh food has altered the way in which food is produced, marketed and sold across the Puget Sound region. Learn about opportunities as well as barriers to increasing local food production and connecting local farmers to local markets through several real-world examples.
As Director and Agriculture Extension Faculty of Washington State University Thurston County Extension, Lucas Patzek is working to develop a stronger South Puget Sound food system through research-based information and educational programs, participatory research and demonstration projects, and community food system development. He holds a doctorate in Crop Science from Washington State, and a bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
