When you've finished eating the cheese, transfer the lid to a canning jar and you'll have an excellent herb container.

My husband and I discovered those plastic shaker tops from Parmesan cheese containers fit perfectly on regular-sized canning jars.
They work great as herb containers and dispensers for our dried herb and spice blends, including our favorite barbecue rub. If the holes are too big for your liking, the lid can be lined with clean window screening.
