Dog Days

We just sent the September/October issue off to the printer, so we’re complete with bathrooms and harvest menus and it’s time to move onto bedrooms and holiday preparations. After six years at the helm of Natural Home & Garden, this seems completely normal; even as the unrelentless heat bakes our gardens, our thoughts turn to articles about warding off colds and staying warm. It’s just the way of things in magazines.

Mostly, we’re wrapped up in pulling together the incredible bedroom makeover for our lucky Bedroom Makeover Contest winner in Boulder, Colorado. We’re fortunate enough to be working with Associates III, a pioneering design firm in Denver whose principals are literally writing the book on green interior design right now (it’s due out from Wiley in the spring). I’m drooling a bit as I watch all the pieces come together; this room is going to be stunning—serene, polished, and a night-and-day transformation from the 1970s room it once was. I love coordinating and editing this article because it gives me the opportunity to learn about all the great sustainable products that are out there and available for my own boudoir…some day...
