 Silver City makes “Great Places You’ve (Maybe) Never Heard Of” list
National magazine honors the city’s cultural and environmental initiatives

TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 21, 2009) — What happens when you mix art, science and teamwork? Just ask Silver City, N.M. The city’s cultural and environmental efforts land it on Mother Earth News’ fourth annual “Great Places You’ve (Maybe) Never Heard Of” list. Mother Earth News, the leading sustainable-living magazine, features 11 selected communities in its October-November issue, on sale Sept. 22.

The magazine cites Silver City’s active arts scene, efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and proximity to the Gila National Forest as a few of the reasons to spotlight this New Mexico town of 10,545.
