Mountain View makes “Great Places You’ve (Maybe) Never Heard Of” list
National magazine honors the city’s cultural preservation and local business

TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 21, 2009) — Mountain View, Ark., transcends time in ways that few communities can. The town’s dedication to preserving — and continuing — its Ozark folk culture lands it on Mother Earth News’ fourth annual “Great Places You’ve (Maybe) Never Heard Of” list. Mother Earth News, the leading sustainable-living magazine, features 11 selected communities in its October-November issue, on sale Sept. 22.

The magazine cites Mountain View’s all-night string band sessions in the town square, the Ozark Folk Center’s focus on preserving traditional handcrafts and the variety of local business as a few of the reasons to spotlight this Arkansas city of 2,876.
