Hardiest varieties survive winter temperatures to minus 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

Plants produce many runners.

Bloom and set fruit all season provided nights are cool.

Ideal for growing in containers or raised beds.

Alpine strawberries
F. vesca 

Small fruits with big flavor, best picked ripe and eaten fresh.

Many varieites do not produce runners, making them easy to manage in containers or raised beds.

Most varieties hardy to minus 20 degrees. Can be grown from seed.

Musk strawberries

Tall, vigorous plants best handled as ground cover.

Presence of male plants improves productivity of these small, aromatic, intensely flavored fruits.
